Former India batsman Jacob Martin was arrested early Tuesday morning after reportedly crashing his luxury SUV into three parked vehicles in Vadodara, police said. Martin, 53, who represented India in 10 ODIs, was taken into custody following the accident. According to the Akota Police, the incident occurred around 2:30 am near Punit Nagar Society, when Martin, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his MG Hector and collided with the cars parked outside a residence. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicles, police officials told PTI.

A complaint lodged by the owners of the damaged cars led to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the BNS addressing rash and drunk driving. The police have also impounded Martin’s vehicle as part of the investigation. Martin, who previously captained Baroda in the Ranji Trophy, has a history of legal troubles. In 2011, he was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a human trafficking case. This latest incident adds to the former cricketer’s controversial record and has prompted authorities to begin further inquiries.
