KOZHIKODE: A 16-year-old boy was brutally assaulted by two other teenagers at Kalpetta in Wayanad. Following the emergence of the footage of the attack, Kalpetta police have registered a case naming two accused.Though the incident took place a few days ago, it came to light on Saturday after a video showing the assault on the student began circulating on social media. After viewing the footage, police registered a case. In the meantime, one of the accused voluntarily appeared at the police station.The assault is believed to have taken place around 3pm last Wednesday on the Kalpetta-Mess House Road. The video, which is about seven minutes long, shows the boy, a student of Govt Higher Secondary School, Kaniyambetta, being struck repeatedly on the face and head with a stick, kicked on the face. It also captures scenes of the 16-year-old being forced to hold the attackers’ feet and apologise.Police said the FIR was registered on Saturday, and a detailed probe into the incident, including the motive behind the assault, is under way.
