CBSE rolls out parenting calendar 2026–27 to institutionalise parent–school engagement under NEP 2020 vision

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come out with a parenting calendar for the academic year 2026–27. It seeks to bring about an increase in engagement between schools and parents for their children’s all-around development. This Parenting Calendar for 2026–27 comes in the continuity of the one introduced last year during 2025–26 based on the vision of NEP 2020 for holistic education and increased stakeholder involvement. CBSE says that this calendar will help institutionalise structured engagements between the schools and parents for the benefit of their children.

Expanded framework for parent engagement

This year’s Parenting Calendar for 2026–27 has been framed for promoting collaboration between schools and parents for better engagement of students in different walks of life, with greater parental involvement. The board has also emphasised that the initiative is intended to help families navigate academic pressures and changing educational expectations while ensuring students receive balanced support at home and in school.

New focus areas introduced

This year’s edition introduces dedicated sections on Inclusion and Coping with Changes. The inclusion module is aimed at promoting awareness and sensitivity towards diverse learning needs and ensuring equitable practices in schools. The ‘Coping with Changes’ segment focuses on helping parents and students adapt to curriculum updates and evolving academic structures. CBSE has highlighted that these additions are designed to make the calendar more relevant to contemporary educational challenges.

Strengthening parenting workshops

One of the aspects of the redesigned calendar includes the inclusion of parenting workshops. With this aspect, there would be the inclusion of the developmental aspect, making it possible for schools to have age-appropriate and context-specific engagement programs. As per CBSE, the workshops will make it easier for parents to know the development stage of their children and hence give appropriate guidance both academically and emotionally.

Focus on holistic student development

The idea behind the parenting calendar is to act as a guide for developing better interaction and cooperation between parent and child in a home and school setting. It must be noted that CBSE emphasises holistic education. The board has underlined that the programme is designed to build a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive ecosystem that encourages students’ overall well-being and resilience.

Participation from education stakeholders

The virtual launch event saw participation from school principals, teachers, counsellors, wellness educators, and parents across the country. The session focused on explaining the objectives of the calendar and its implementation across CBSE-affiliated schools.Candidates can click on the link provided here to download the parenting calendar 2026.
