It’s official, a sequel to the 2009 blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ is in the works and leading man, Aamir Khan is spilling all the details.Months after rumours first began doing the rounds online, Aamir, in his latest chat, confirmed the reports and shared that the highly anticipated sequel to the Rajkumar Hirani film is in development.Aamir Khan confirms ‘3 Idiots 2’Confirming the recent developments in a recent interview, Aamir revealed in an interview with Amar Ujala, “At this time, he is working on ‘3 Idiots 2’. I have heard that narration. It has turned out well. There is still more work to be done on the script, but the story is very good. It has the same humour and an unusual story. It is the same ‘3 Idiots’ story, but set 10 years later.”The actor also indicated his intention to reprise his role as Phunsukh Wangdu, the beloved character from the original film. “This is one of the films I will be working on soon… I think it’s a beautiful story and Abhijat and Raju have written it very well. So I am also waiting to do that.”Cast and production scheduleWhile he didn’t reveal the exact date he is expected to begin work on the film, he indicated that it will be one of the next films. Reports further state that the film will likely reunite the original cast, including Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor.Sharman Joshi on ‘3 Idiots’Last December, actor Sharman Joshi shared that he hopes that the hit film would get a sequel. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he shared, “On more than a couple of occasions, there has been buzz that the 3 Idiots sequel is happening. The last time the reports came, it turned out to be for an ad campaign. Let’s see, hopefully this time it’s true.”
