Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express set to launch on April 30; travel time cut to 5 hours

In a recent and significant update, rail travel in Jammu & Kashmir is all set to transform with the launch of new Vande Bharat Express service between Jammu and Srinagar. According to an update published on newsonair.gov.in, the Ministry of Railways said that the train will launch on April 30. This is one of the most important launches as the Kashmir Valley has been long considered one of India’s most geographically challenging regions for transport infrastructure. As per an official quoted by TNN, “This extension will put an end to the hassle that passengers heading to Srinagar by rail faced so far. In most cases, people coming from other parts of the country travelled to Katra station after reaching Jammu Tawi to catch a train to Srinagar. The train is designed for the harsh and unpredictable climate of the valley and unlike traditional trains, this one has been winterised to run property in extreme cold and snowfall.
