Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan continue to redefine consistency at the top, adding another milestone to their growing legacy in the IPL. Their 50-plus stand against Chennai Super Kings marked their 19th such partnership in just 40 innings, the most by an Indian pair in the tournament’s history. In doing so, they went past the previous record of 18 held by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, who took 54 innings to reach that mark. Their latest effort came in a challenging chase at Chepauk, where Gujarat Titans secured a comfortable eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. On a surface that tested batters with steep bounce, Titans showed far better awareness and control. Earlier, Gujarat’s bowlers set up the game perfectly. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada exploited the conditions brilliantly, reducing CSK to 28 for 3 in the Powerplay. Ruturaj Gaikwad held the innings together with an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls, but the lack of support meant CSK could only reach 158 for 7. In reply, Gill and Sudharsan took control early with a 58-run opening stand, effectively neutralising any pressure. Gill’s fluent 33 set the tone before Sudharsan took over with a commanding 87 off 46 balls, continuing his rich vein of form after a century in the previous match. Jos Buttler provided calm support with an unbeaten 39, as Titans chased down the target with 20 balls to spare. On a pitch where CSK struggled to adapt, Gill and Sudharsan once again showcased why they are one of the most reliable opening pairs in the league, combining consistency with match-winning impact.
