NEW DELHI: Two men accused of attempting to kill a man in southwest Delhi’s Chhawla area were arrested a day after the attack, in which a firearm malfunction narrowly prevented a fatal shooting. Police said the incident took place on April 17 in Shyam Vihar Phase 2, where two men arrived on a motorcycle and targeted the complainant. One of them pulled out a pistol and tried to fire at point-blank range, but the weapon failed to discharge. The accused, identified as Rocky (22) and Sumit (24), were later intercepted in the area on April 19. During the arrest, one of them allegedly opened fire, and a bullet hit a policeman’s bulletproof vest. He was subsequently overpowered after being shot in the leg, while the other was arrested at the spot. Firearms, live cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the incident have been recovered. A fresh case has been registered.
