The latest trade chatter links the Kansas City Chiefs to Ephesians Prysock as a potential Day 3 target. A post in NFL circles captured the buzz: “The #Chiefs have interest in Washington CB Ephesians Prysock. Prysock is projected to go early day 3 of this year’s draft. The corner recorded 48 tackles, eight pass deflections, and one interception in 13 starts last season.”That interest lines up with what the roster currently lacks. In one stretch this offseason, the Chiefs lost Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and safety Bryan Cook. That group formed the core of their secondary. Replacing that production will not come from a single pick.Prysock brings a different look. He stands 6-foot-3 with long arms, which gives him an edge in contested coverage. He played over 700 snaps in each of the last three seasons in college, showing durability and consistency. His coverage numbers improved, too. He cut down yards allowed and finished his final season allowing just 8.4 yards per reception.That matters in Kansas City’s system under Steve Spagnuolo. The defense leans on zone concepts and physical press looks. Corners must read plays quickly and close space fast. Prysock’s length helps him disrupt passing lanes, especially in Cover 3 and Cover 4 schemes.There is also a bigger picture. Kansas City still has to address its pass rush. Losing key edge depth has created another hole. That likely pushes the front office to use an early pick on a pass rusher or safety. As a result, cornerback becomes a later priority. That is where Prysock fits perfectly.Of course, he is not a finished product. He tends to get handsy when beaten, which led to penalties in college. His height also forces him to play high at times, which quicker receivers can exploit. These are coachable issues, but they explain his Day 3 projection.Even so, this is how contenders stay competitive. They find value where others hesitate. For the Chiefs, adding a player like Prysock could quietly stabilize a shaken secondary while bigger moves address the top of the roster.
