During the candid chat, the actress revealed she never thought of venturing into cinema initially. During the conversation, Rani Mukerji revealed that having her own career was never the plan. She added, “Growing up, I think it was never really something that occurred to my dad that I’m going to go ahead in life and will work and do stuff like that.”The actress further shared that it was a “boy’s responsibility,” and her parents saw that through her brother. She expressed, “I think with me, it was very clear. They were wanting to get me married at a very young age. But destiny had other plans for me.”

During the same conversation, Rani Mukerji revealed that things changed after she was offered her debut film, ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat’. The actress recalled her mother saying, “You know, Salim (Akhtar) uncle is a family friend who’s offered you this thing. Why don’t you take it up and see how it goes?”Rani then added that she understood her mother’s intention after years. The actress expressed that her mom wanted to make their financial situation better, and hence, she bet on her acting career. Rani shared, “Because they knew that if I do well in this thing, maybe things would be better. But probably at that point in time, I didn’t see it from that angle.”Meanwhile, on the work front, Rani Mukerji is set to star in ‘Mardaani 3’, directed by Abhiraj Minawala. The film is set to hit theaters on January 30, 2026.
