It all kicked off in 2025. At first, nobody expected much from a surprising spark between the singer and Canada’s former Prime Minister. Fast forward to 2026, and it’s clear they’re not just having fun. They’re building something real, balancing world tours, political commitments, and family life along the way.
Long-distance is tough, but for Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, it’s just another challenge. Katy, now 41, has her daughter Daisy Dove with Orlando Bloom. Trudeau, 54, has three kids of his own: Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien, from his marriage to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. As reported by People, kids come first for both of them. “The priority for both of them is stability for the kids. Katy and Justin have had to be flexible to make the relationship work,” the report says.From the beginning, both understood their lives were anything but simple, and logistics would always be tricky. How it started vs how it’s going
People started talking about Katy and Justin back in July 2025, when the ‘Firework’ singer was on tour, and the two were seen hanging out in Montreal. At first, it looked casual: just two famous people spending time together. The above mentioned outlet reported that then Trudeau showed up at her concert, and after that, they kept in touch, even while Katy’s Lifetimes Tour took her around the world. By October, things were different. They were spotted together in Paris, and not long after, the relationship went Instagram official.Katy’s tour wrapped up in December, after nearly a hundred shows. Even while she was traveling, Trudeau made the effort to see her whenever possible. “He really showed he cared, right from the start,” reported the publication. “They’ve already handled plenty of complications, and the fact that they’re still willing to keep trying says a lot about how serious they are.”Katy hasn’t hidden her happiness, either. She’s posted photos of the two of them: that selfie where she’s pulling a silly face, or the one where Trudeau’s at the table, wearing a pipe cleaner headband his kids made. It’s not just about the two of them, either. Their families are involved, too. Perry and Trudeau are making sure the kids feel steady and included.
