MUMBAI: Tata Trusts has appointed Tata veteran Farokh Subedar, 71, as a consultant, according to people in the know. Subedar, who was with the Tata Group until last year, had shared the board at Tata Investment Corporation with Noel Tata, chair of Tata Trusts. The foundations are also considering former Tata Steel VP (corporate services) Chanakya Chaudhry for a consultancy role as they seek to bolster their presence in New Delhi. A few months ago, the Trusts leased a 2,000-sq ft office at DLF Centre in Connaught Place.Chaudhry retired from Tata Steel last year, where Noel serves as vice chairman. An email sent to Noel seeking comment did not elicit a response. Some time ago, Noel had proposed Subedar’s name for trusteeship at Trusts, but certain trustees did not approve it, the people said. The new appointment and potential hires come as Noel strengthens his grip over Trusts amid internal infighting.
