GURGAON: A 3-year-old girl residing in a condominium in Sector 54 was sexually assaulted by two women house helps, along with their male accomplice, her parents have alleged.Police on Wednesday registered a case under sections 17 (a person abets a sexual offence against a child, and that act is committed as a result of the abetment) and 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, and Section 65(2) (whoever commits rape on a woman under 12 years of age) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 53 police station.
The incident took place last month, but the couple approached police earlier this week after the survivor shared the ordeal with her mother.“The FIR was immediately registered after we got to know, as per the guidelines of the apex court, but the case is still under investigation. We will take further legal action after a thorough probe,” a police officer said.According to people aware of the case, the house helps were detained by police and were yet to be formally arrested. A security guard at the society said police visited the premises on Tuesday and questioned some residents as well. “They took both the women along, but we don’t know about the male accomplice,” the guard said.The case, as per protocol, was referred to the Child Welfare Committee by the police. “A senior doctor counselled her in the presence of her parents,” an officer said.Police named both women in the FIR, while their male accomplice has not been named. People privy to the matter said that while one of the women recently took up the job at the survivor’s house, the other is employed in the house of a neighbour. Meanwhile, a few residents of the society approached police, refuting the allegations against the accused, they said.“Another person who has employed one of the women said that she has been working with him for several years and is trustworthy. He said she has been named in the FIR because she is close to the other woman. Both of them take care of children. We are taking the case seriously and will follow the law strictly,” another police officer said.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
