HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old pregnant woman who had built a following of 50,000 subscribers through her family vlogs on social media was allegedly murdered by her husband in the early hours of Tuesday at Madhapur village in Korutla mandal of Jagtial district.The victim, Chittari Vaishnavi, who often shared videos of her daily life and family moments on YouTube, was three months pregnant, police said. Her husband, Gandam Hari (24), is currently absconding, and police have launched a search to trace him. Vaishnavi’s parents found her lying in a pool of blood inside her room with multiple stab injuries to her head, neck and hands. Hari was missing from the house. Investigators suspect he attacked his wife late on Monday night and fled the scene.
Hari was a receptionist at a local govt hospital but had recently quit his job. Over the past six months, he had also begun appearing in social media videos with Vaishnavi, who had built a good following of 50,000 subscribers through her vlogs.Police said tensions between the couple had escalated over the past month, with allegations of dowry harassment against Hari. Neighbours reported frequent arguments between the two, including one on Monday night.

‘Married for 10 months’ According to A Ramulu, deputy superintendent of police, Metpally, the couple had been married for about 10 months. Though they belonged to the same caste, Hari’s parents reportedly did not approve of the marriage, which led to frequent disputes between the families. The couple had initially stayed at Hari’s family home but later moved to Vaishnavi’s parental house in Madhapur due to the continuing tensions. Police teams reached the spot soon after being alerted, while forensic experts collected evidence from the house. A case has been registered under sections 80 (dowry death) and 101 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have formed special teams to trace and apprehend the accused.
