Today is the final opportunity for eligible candidates to apply online for the UP Lekhpal Recruitment 2026, as the application window closes today. The recruitment drive is being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission through its official portal.The process is open for candidates who have qualified the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test and hold a valid scorecard, which will be used to shortlist applicants for the main written examination.Vacancy details and reservation breakupA total of 7,996 Lekhpal posts have been notified, with 3,205 vacancies for the unreserved category, 1,679 for Scheduled Castes, 160 for Scheduled Tribes, 2,158 for Other Backward Classes, and 792 posts reserved for the EWS category.Eligibility conditions and weightageApplicants must have passed the Intermediate examination or its equivalent. Additional weightage will be given to candidates who have served in the Territorial Army for at least two years or possess an NCC ‘B’ certificate.PET cut-off expectations based on previous recruitmentIn the 2022 Lekhpal recruitment, around 14,00,000 applications were received for 8,085 posts. The unreserved category cut-off for shortlisting was 62.96, while Scheduled Caste stood at 61.80, Scheduled Tribe at 44.71, and Other Backward Classes and EWS at 62.96. Horizontal reservation cut-offs included women at 64.74, persons with disabilities at 51.12, freedom fighters at 49.84, and ex-servicemen at 00.74.Revised syllabus and examination patternThe syllabus has been overhauled with Mathematics removed and Data Interpretation introduced for 10 marks. Rural Society now carries five marks. General Hindi has been reduced to 10 marks. Computer and Information Technology carries 15 marks, while UP general knowledge accounts for 20 marks. The paper also includes Indian History, Polity, Geography, Economy, Science and Technology, Environment, Ecology and Disaster Management, and current affairs.The examination will consist of 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks, to be completed in two hours, with negative marking and normalisation applied to the merit list.
