UP broke free from policy apathy, emerged as India's growth engine: CM Yogi Adityanath
Yogi Adityanath greets people on Uttar Pradesh Day

Uttar Pradesh has broken free from years of struggle and policy apathy to emerge from the ‘Bimaru’ category as India’s growth engine, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday, as he greeted the people on the state’s foundation day. In a video message shared on his official X handle, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has transformed itself by overcoming long-standing challenges and neglect. Adityanath said a new chapter of cultural resurgence is being written from Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura to Sambhal and that the state is moving from disorder to celebration. “My sisters and brothers of Uttar Pradesh, heartfelt greetings to all of you on Uttar Pradesh Day,” the chief minister said in his post. He said Uttar Pradesh, a land of immense possibilities, has today moved beyond years of struggle and policy indifference to become a key driver of India’s development. Adityanath said UP has been a centre of India’s culture, literature, music, art and spiritual consciousness since ancient times. He said the dignity of Ayodhya, the eternal consciousness of Kashi, the devotion of Braj Dham and the harmony of Prayagraj have, over the centuries, given new direction and energy to India’s cultural ethos. The chief minister said that while preserving its rich cultural and spiritual heritage, Uttar Pradesh is realising the resolve of inclusive development. “With firm resolve, we have established good governance and the rule of law and generated large-scale employment in the state,” he said. In a separate post, the chief minister extended greetings to people from Uttar Pradesh living abroad, saying their hard work, talent and values have enhanced the state’s and the country’s reputation on the global platform. “Our government is fully committed to linking your experience and knowledge with the state’s development journey,” he said, extending his wishes on Uttar Pradesh Day. Uttar Pradesh celebrates its foundation day every year on January 24. In line with the chief minister’s vision, Uttar Pradesh Day 2026 is being organised on the theme ‘Developed India-Developed Uttar Pradesh’. According to an official statement, the formal inauguration of Uttar Pradesh Day celebrations will be held in Lucknow on Saturday, with Union home minister Amit Shah attending the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
