The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced a Sliding Mechanism for allocation of posts to qualifying candidates, aiming to reduce unfilled vacancies and ensure a smoother, candidate-friendly process. The move comes after repeated instances of posts remaining vacant due to candidates not appearing for Document Verification (DV) or failing to join allotted departments.The Commission had earlier released a notice on 03 March 2026, outlining the framework. The mechanism will allow a single round of reallocation for posts left vacant due to absenteeism, optimizing merit-based allocation.
First Round Tentative Allocation (FRTA) and identity verification
The FRTA will follow candidate preferences submitted during the application process. To confirm tentative allocation, candidates must complete Identity Verification (IV) at their respective SSC Regional Offices through Aadhaar-based authentication.Candidates are required to select either:
- FIX: Accept the current allocation as final, with no scope for upgrade.
- FLOAT: Opt to be considered for upgradation if higher-preference vacancies arise.
The IV process includes live photo capture, Aadhaar biometric authentication, and fingerprint verification. Candidates must carry their Aadhaar card, slot confirmation slip, and registered mobile number for OTP verification. Sliding process and final allocation
Vacancies arising due to absenteeism during IV will be identified, and a single sliding round will be conducted for FLOAT candidates based on merit and preference. The final allocation results will then be forwarded to user departments for verification and appointment.Candidates opting for FIX cannot be considered for an upgrade; non-joining will lead to the post being carried forward to the next recruitment cycle. FLOAT candidates must join upgraded posts if allotted, failing which both old and upgraded posts will be forfeited.The SSC has emphasized that all decisions regarding verification, allocation, and post confirmation are final and binding. Candidates are advised to ensure their application details match the documents produced during IV to avoid disqualification.
