Speeding car crushes 5-year-old to death in posh Pune society; CCTV video emerges

PUNE: A five-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a car inside a residential society in Loni Kalbhor, Pune, on Monday evening. CCTV footage from the society shows the moments leading up to the accident.The incident occurred around 3.30pm while the child was playing with his bicycle within the Joy Nest Society premises.

According to police, the car’s driver, a resident of Mundhwa Road, had entered the society to drop a friend in front of a building. The vehicle hit the boy, who was rushed to a nearby private hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.The boy’s father, 40, has filed a complaint alleging rash and negligent driving leading to death.Footage from the society’s surveillance system, now circulating on social media, shows the child riding his bicycle unaware of the oncoming car.Also read: Noida house horror- Child domestic help on life support; abandoned by father, mother mentally ill, kin don’t want her The video captures the driver rushing out to assist, neighbours hurrying to help and the boy being placed back into the vehicle before being taken to hospital.Police said they are examining the CCTV evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events, including the car’s speed at the time of impact.Residents have expressed outrage over the incident, questioning how high-speed driving was allowed within residential premises and demanding strict action against the driver.
