Rajkummar Rao is stepping into the shoes of cricket legend Sourav Ganguly in the eagerly awaited biopic ‘Dada,’ which has just begun production. Taking to social media, Rao announced the exciting development, revealing that cameras are now rolling. Fans have been privy to his intense transformation journey for the role, a commitment he has openly shared.

Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming biopic on former India captain Sourav Ganguly now has a title and has moved into production. The actor confirmed the update on social media, signaling that filming has begun. The project, long in the works, will bring Ganguly’s journey to the big screen, with Rao stepping into the role of one of Indian cricket’s most influential leaders.

The film is titled ‘Dada’. Rajkummar Rao shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday evening and confirmed that shooting is underway. “And it begins… The one and only #DADA,” he wrote in the caption. The film is produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The update marks a key step forward for a project that has been in development for several years and has drawn strong public interest.

The film has also stayed in the news due to Rao’s physical transformation. In February, his changed appearance sparked concern among fans after he appeared at an event with visible weight gain and a different hairstyle. He later addressed the speculation and clarified that the change was for the role.“For Nikam I had to gain around 9-10 kgs and I was eating 2 pizzas and lot of sweets and my fav Aloo Parathas, Biryani and to not use anything glam to look like the part,” Rao shared. He explained that the transformation was part of preparing for the Ganguly biopic. “Hopefully when you will see the film which will be releasing soon you will be able to see all that hardwork in the film. And now it’s the transition phase and time to lose these extra kgs and get ready to slip into Ganguly mode. Our very own Dada,” read a portion of his post.The film will trace Sourav Ganguly’s rise from a young cricketer to a defining captain of Indian cricket. With filming now underway and a confirmed title, ‘Dada’ has taken a clear step toward release.
