‘If my words hurt anyone, forgive me’: Rajendra Prasad apologises for remarks about MGR
Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad has apologized for his remarks concerning M.G. Ramachandran, following backlash from the Tamil film industry. He explained his comments were made casually during an award ceremony and were later exaggerated on social media. Prasad emphasized his deep respect for the late actor-politician and sought forgiveness, promising such statements would not be repeated.

After recieving flak on his statement related to the legendary Tamil actor and ex-Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, the veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad has now apologised. In a video message, Prasad expressed his thoughts and remarked that his comments were made in a casual way during his speech at the function. He further added that he never meant to hurt anyone when he uttered those words. The apology was made following the protest of people from the Tamil cinema industry, who were furious with his statement and wanted him to clarify it.

The actor explains how the remark happened at the award event

Rajendra Prasad explained that the remark was made during a recent event where he received an award named after the late Telugu actor Kantha Rao. While making a light-hearted speech, he remarked that a line spoken by M.G. Ramachandran was wrongly placed. According to him, the comment was later exaggerated and circulated widely on social media, which created controversy. He said he had no intention of speaking negatively about the legendary Tamil leader and actor.

Rajendra Prasad recalls his respect for MGR from his student days

In his video statement, Rajendra Prasad also recalled his personal memory of M.G. Ramachandran from his student days. He said that when he was studying at the Madras Film Institute, M.G. Ramachandran was serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The actor remembered that the leader once visited the institute to see how students were learning acting. Rajendra Prasad stressed that he has always respected M.G. Ramachandran and said he was not someone who could ever speak disrespectfully about such a legendary figure.

Actor seeks forgiveness and promises it will not happen again

Concluding his message, the veteran actor apologised to anyone who might have felt hurt by his words. He said that if his statement had affected people’s sentiments, he sincerely asked for forgiveness. Rajendra Prasad also assured that he would never speak in such a manner again. He requested everyone to consider his explanation and allow the issue to end with his apology.
