Pistol loaded, camera rolling and a chilling grin: Watch what happened moments before Delhi property dealer shot himself dead

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old property dealer died after he allegedly fired his cousin’s pistol while checking it at a house in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, police said. The man, identified as Pawan Kumar, was a resident of Dallupura. According to police, the pistol belonged to his cousin, who had obtained a licence for the weapon in February this year. A video of the incident, which has circulated on social media, shows Kumar inserting a magazine into a licensed pistol and loading the weapon. His cousin, Himanshu, can be heard advising him on handling the firearm and cautioning him against firing it. Moments later, Kumar places the pistol against the left side of his chest, briefly looks towards the camera and pulls the trigger. He collapses immediately, as Himanshu reacts in shock. Police said preliminary inquiry revealed that the pistol belonged to Himanshu. The weapon, along with 10 live cartridges, has been seized. The mobile phone used to record the video has also been taken into possession, and relevant exhibits have been collected from the scene, officers said. The body has been shifted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Arms Act at New Ashok Nagar police station.
