AGRA: Upset over taunts and discrimination between sons and daughters in the family, two sisters, aged 16 and 32, allegedly murdered their 60-year-old father while he was asleep in their house at a village in Muzaffarnagar district. They had been plotting to kill their farmer father for the past few days, and on Sunday night they served food laced with sedatives to the rest of the family members, including their mother, said police. When the father fell asleep, the younger daughter held his legs tight while the elder one slit his throat with a kitchen knife, said police. The body was found lying in a pool of blood early on Monday morning. Police arrived and sent the body for post-mortem. Within two hours of investigation, the two daughters were detained for questioning, during which they admitted to the crime, said police. A case under BNS section 103 (murder) has been registered at Bhopa police station and the two accused were arrested. They were presented before a court which remanded them in judicial custody.SP (rural) Aditya Bansal said, “During questioning, the two daughters stated that they were distressed over their father’s behaviour towards them, and alleged that he treated his son and daughters differently. The blood-stained clothes of the elder daughter were found hidden in a pile of fodder, he said.
