GURGAON: The Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday arrested gangster Sahil Chauhan after he was deported from Thailand, officials said. Chauhan, an associate of gangster Kaushal Chaudhary, was taken into custody by an STF team from Ambala at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi upon his arrival. According to officials, Chauhan is wanted in multiple criminal cases in Haryana and is also on the radar of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other state agencies.Sahil Chauhan has 16 cases against him and had escaped to Dhaka in 2024. He is a close associate of the Kaushal Chaudhary gang, the Bhuppi Rana gang and the Davinder Bambihia gang. Chauhan, an Ambala resident, was lodged in a Haryana jail after being sentenced to 10 years in prison in a case involving an attempt to murder his rival Monu Rana in 2016, following a college politics dispute between Bhuppi Rana and Monu Rana. According to the STF, Sahil Rana alias Sahil Chauhan reached Thailand on Friday, claiming he wanted to get his father treated there. STF officials said he intended to arrange dialysis for his father in Thailand. However, Punjab Police shared inputs about his arrival in Thailand with their Haryana counterparts, following which the gangster was deported by the Haryana STF.
