NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said feedback from party workers in West Bengal indicates growing public support for the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Assembly elections. In a post on X following his visit to Siliguri, the Prime Minister said said, “It is always a delight to interact with hardworking BJP Karyakartas. Their efforts at the grassroots are truly inspiring. Yesterday, after the rally in Siliguri, I met local BJP Karyakartas who narrated the ordeal of the common people under TMC rule. They told me that the people are connecting with BJP’s development agenda.”He added that “These interactions reaffirm that the mood in West Bengal is clearly favouring the BJP,” signalling confidence within the party as campaigning intensifies in the state.Meanwhile during the rally, PM Modi had launched a sharp attack on TMC, accusing the party of corruption, appeasement politics and neglect of North Bengal, while asserting that the BJP will form the next government in West Bengal.Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “The ruthless TMC government has completed 15 years in power… you have witnessed nothing but ruin,” adding that the current election would shape the state’s future.Stepping up his criticism, he described the ruling party as “anti-North Bengal”, “anti-tribal”, and against the interests of women and youth, alleging that it has failed to deliver meaningful development and cannot present a credible report card of its tenure. The Prime Minister also accused the state government of discriminatory budget allocation, claiming that development in North Bengal has been neglected while resources were diverted elsewhere, and alleged that the TMC was focused on appeasement politics.
