The Twitch account of a popular streamer, Mizkif, was suspended for a brief period of time, specifically for 24 hours. The suspension of the user was minor, specifically for a different account of Mizkif, which was not his main Twitch channel. In other words, his main channel was not suspended. The suspension was marked as temporary, indicating that there was a relatively minor offense or violation. The account of Mizkif was suspended for a full day until it was later made active again, leading to public speculations about the reason for suspension.This type of short suspension is sometimes utilized by Twitch if the rule infringement was minor and the first of its kind. In this instance, it was an indicator of the tight rules governing how streamers utilize the very visible aspects of their platforms. Although it was a short suspension, it served to show the streamers the level of consideration the platform had regarding the channel’s content.
Twitch suspends Mizkif-linked account over competitor promotion
According to reports, the suspension was triggered because a Kick link appeared in the stream’s title. Twitch considers titles as high-visibility space since they appear in search results, recommendations, and category listings. Using a title to direct viewers to a competing platform violates Twitch’s rules because it uses Twitch’s own discovery system to funnel traffic elsewhere.Although Twitch does allow users to link to their other accounts in specific situations, such as in social media icons or channel descriptions, it enforces a blanket policy when dealing with titles, messages, or screen overlays. In this way, it is clear that Twitch takes the process of trying to redirect users from the platform very seriously, even for secondary accounts.One would also want to mention that, technically, the 24 hours of suspension have been of a symbolic character. The reason for this is that Mizkif continues live streaming on other sites, which include Kick, with no issues.Overall, the incident is an important reminder for streamers to be mindful of their promotion of other platforms. While small actions in prominent areas have serious consequences, the incident was not significant for Mizkif, and the account was restored within a day to ensure minimum disruption.
