TMC Stages Walkout Over Election Commission’s Move To Replace West Bengal Bureaucrats
Just hours after announcing the West Bengal assembly poll dates, the Election Commission of India reshuffled key bureaucrats to ensure administrative neutrality. Chief Secretary Nandini Chakravorty and Home Secretary Jagdish Prasad Meena were removed from poll-related duties. Dushyant Nariala has been appointed as the new chief secretary, while Sanghamitra Ghosh takes over as principal secretary, Home and Hill Affairs. The EC directed that the transferred officers not be posted in any election-related roles until the completion of the polls. The assembly elections are scheduled for April 23 and 29, with votes to be counted on May 4, in a move aimed at fair and impartial election management.
