Margot Robbie steps out in ‘painfully high’ heels and the we can’t look away
Margot Robbie made a bold fashion statement promoting ‘Wuthering Heights,’ ditching pastels for dark, gothic glamour. Her towering Christian Louboutin stilettos, a striking 4.74-inch patent leather design, stole the show, sparking widespread online debate about extreme footwear. Despite the controversy, the look, styled by Andrew Mukamal, proved undeniably impactful.

Margot Robbie is clearly done playing it safe – and her latest appearance proves it. While promoting her upcoming film Wuthering Heights, the 35-year-old actor stepped out in a look that leaned heavily into dark, gothic glamour, swapping sugary femininity for something far more commanding. And while the Roberto Cavalli outfit set the mood, it was her towering heels that had everyone talking.Styled by New York–based celebrity stylist Andrew Mukamal, Robbie’s look marked a noticeable shift from the pastel-heavy, ultra-polished aesthetics that once ruled red carpets. This time, the vibe was sharper, moodier, and unapologetically bold. Still, nothing stole the spotlight quite like her footwear.Mukamal shared the look on Instagram, posting two images of Robbie confidently perched in jet-black stilettos – and the internet had opinions. The shoes in question were Christian Louboutin’s iconic So Kate pumps, crafted in glossy patent leather with a razor-sharp pointed toe and a sky-high 4.74-inch heel. Finished with leather lining, a cushioned footbed, and the brand’s unmistakable red sole, the pumps retail for $945 and are famously unforgiving.

As expected, the comment section quickly turned into a mix of awe and anxiety. While some fans marvelled at the sheer drama of the heels, others admitted their feet hurt just looking at them. “This is stunning, but I need a foot massage already,” joked one user. Another added, “Prayers for her feet.” Not everyone was impressed, though – a few critics questioned why women are still embracing such extreme footwear, with one bluntly calling the heels “criminal.”Robbie balanced the daring shoes with thoughtful styling elsewhere. She accessorised with a black choker featuring a striking red-and-gold gemstone pendant from Roberto Cavalli, adding just the right amount of drama without overwhelming the look. Her blonde hair was styled in a soft half-up, half-down finish, while her makeup stayed minimal – flushed cheeks and glossy lips letting the outfit do most of the talking.Love them or loathe them, there’s no denying it: Margot Robbie’s heels sparked conversation, and in fashion, that’s often the whole point.
