Mahindra Thar gets expensive: Price hike details

Mahindra and Mahindra has increased the prices of the Mahindra Thar lifestyle SUV. Most variants have received a Rs 20,000 price increase. The entry-level AX T 2WD continues to be priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), unchanged, while all other trims now cost Rs 20,000 more, with the revised prices taking effect immediately.Mahindra launched the facelifted Thar a few months ago in the Indian market with a refreshed exterior, several upgrades inside the cabin and in its features list. The SUV features a body-coloured grille, a dual-tone front bumper and 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear section now features a parking camera integrated into the spare wheel hub, along with a rear wiper and washer.

Moving inside, the cabin of the updated Thar has been given a noticeable refresh. It now comes with an all-black dashboard finish, a new steering wheel, rear AC vents, and power window switches repositioned onto the doors. Both front occupants also get individual armrests with built-in storage. Features-wise, it now gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen system with an upgraded off-road display suite. In terms of safety, it benefits from the addition of a rear-view camera, along with a rear wiper and washer, making it more user-friendly compared to the previous model. Lastly, the fuel lid has been redesigned to remove the keyhole and can now be opened using a dashboard-mounted button. Rear passengers also gain the convenience of dedicated AC vents and extra charging ports.Under the hood, buyers can choose between a 152hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 119hp 1.5-litre diesel, or a 132hp 2.2-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options are carried over as well. The 2.0-litre petrol continues to offer 4WD as an option, while the larger 2.2-litre diesel comes equipped with 4WD as standard.
