Madras HC confirms Rs 1.5 crore penalty on Vijay
The Madras High Court upheld a tax penalty of Rs 1.5 crore imposed on actor Vijay by the Income Tax Department. The court dismissed Vijay’s plea and termed the penalty valid, stating that there was no reason to interfere with the department’s decision. The Income Tax Department’s stand was fully endorsed by the court.
Anju Krishna arrested in a drug case
The Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit (South) arrested Anju Krishna during a raid conducted at Valasaravakkam. Police reportedly seized methamphetamine and marijuana from the premises. Following her arrest, she was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
