Banker’s wife, alleged lover held in Alwar over plot to kill husband

ALWAR: City police Thursday arrested Archana Arora, wife of Karnav Khatri and her alleged lover Rishabh Sharma for allegedly conspiring to kill Khatri, officials said. The two were arrested by NEB police station and produced in court. Archana was sent to judicial custody, while Rishabh was remanded to police custody for one day.CO City Angad Sharma said Khatri (32), a resident of Alwar, filed a report on 7 March stating he married Govindgarh resident Archana (30) in 2018. The couple have two children and Archana is a housewife.According to the complaint, Khatri was posted in Jaipur and Archana often travelled there in taxi driver Rishabh’s vehicle to meet him. Police said the two became close during these trips and later decided to live together. The report alleges the two had an illicit relationship.Police said Archana left home with Rishabh on Sept 7, 2025, taking around Rs 5 lakh worth of jewellery and cash, along with the younger son. Police also said that on Feb 8, 2026, Rishabh threatened Khatri during a WhatsApp call. The complaint alleges that from Jan this year, Archana began living with Rishabh again. In March 2026, Rishabh allegedly took Khatri to Jaipur in a taxi and tried to kill him on the way. Khatri later filed the case and gave police an audio recording linked to the incident.Police also cited a complaint filed on Dec 22 in which Archana, along with her husband and her maternal family, lodged a rape case against Rishabh. The complaint also alleged Rishabh burnt the hand of her two-year-old child with tongs, but police said Archana later retracted her statements when her testimony was to be recorded under Section 164.After Rishabh was sent to jail, police said Archana sent a letter to her husband’s house allegedly threatening Khatri. The letter said, “I demanded Rs 30 lakh in court to settle the dispute, but you got Rishabh sent to jail. Now you will have to pay Rs 50 lakh, otherwise we will get you and your mother killed. We will leave the children in an orphanage. A case has also been filed against you in Rajgarh. The day you come to court, you will be finished that very day.“
