INDORE: Four minors were arrested on Saturday in a case of gangrape and murder of a 17-year-old girl on March 18 in Sarvan police station area in Ratlam.The girl was attending a wedding in her village and had later stepped out of the venue with her younger sister around 3 am when she was abducted by one of the accused and assaulted. Soon after, three others came there and one of them committed the assault while the rest restrained her. To avoid being caught, they strangled her with her scarf and left the body about 200 metres from her home. Her younger sister managed to escape and informed family members. The body was recovered around 4 am.Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar formed a special team under Additional SP Vivek Kumar Lal and SDOP Sailana, Neelam Baghel who gathered technical evidence, inspected the crime scene, and identified four minors from a neighbouring village. During questioning, they admitted to having committed the crime.The case was initially registered under sections 137(2), 103(1), 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with additional charges under sections 64, 70(1), 87, and 61(2). The accused have been sent to a juvenile correction facility. Investigators collected physical evidence from the crime scene to support the case.Police officials noted the coordinated efforts of officers from Sarvan, Sailana, Ravti, and the cyber cell, whose prompt action led to the arrests.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
