LuLu Group chairman Yusuff Ali MA has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting uninterrupted food supplies from India to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.Yusuff Ali met PM Modi in New Delhi on March 26 and briefed him on the group’s efforts to maintain supply continuity across GCC markets.In a post on social media platform X after the meeting, Yusuff Ali said he was “extremely thankful” to the prime minister for continued support in ensuring uninterrupted food supplies from India to GCC countries during the current situation.The discussions focused on maintaining the availability of essential food items across the Gulf region, where Indian-origin food products are widely consumed by expatriates as well as local populations. The talks also covered the need to strengthen supply chains and ensure price stability.LuLu Group said it has facilitated imports of around 15,000 tonnes of perishable and non-perishable food products through chartered flights, cargo vessels and regular shipping services from multiple locations in India. It added that 34 dedicated chartered flights have already operated, with more expected.LuLu Group International is an Indian-origin, Abu Dhabi-headquartered multinational retail and distribution conglomerate founded by Yusuff Ali. It operates a large network of hypermarkets, supermarkets and shopping malls across the Gulf, Asia and other regions, employing over 65,000 people and ranking among the biggest retail chains in the Middle East. The group plays a significant role in sourcing and distributing Indian food products across the Gulf, making it a key link in the India–Gulf food supply chain.
