The defeat proved costly for Delhi Capitals, who slipped to fourth place on the points table. With six points and a net run rate of -0.164, they are now locked in a tight battle for a top-three finish and a playoff spot. Delhi face bottom-placed UP Warriorz in their final league match on February 1, a virtual knockout.Despite the loss, Rodrigues praised the fighting spirit shown by Sneh Rana and Niki Prasad during a tense chase. Chasing a challenging target, Delhi were revived by a spirited seventh-wicket partnership of 70 runs between Rana (29 off 15 balls) and Prasad (47 off 24), which briefly swung momentum back in their favour.

Do you believe Delhi Capitals will secure a playoff spot?

“Firstly, the way Sneh Rana and Niki played, I have to give it to them. It was special,” Rodrigues said after the match. “Such things happen, but it would have been nice had we finished on the right side of the finishing line.”Sophie Devine, however, held her nerve in the final over, defending nine runs to seal a dramatic three-run win for Gujarat Giants and complete a season double over Delhi. With their playoff hopes still alive, Rodrigues struck a defiant note ahead of the final fixture. “That game is going to be important. It will be important for us to regroup. We are still in the tournament, and we will keep fighting.”
