JEE Main 2026 April session exams from tomorrow: NTA releases strict exam day guidelines; check notice here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will begin the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 April session from tomorrow, April 2, 2026. With over a million candidates expected to appear, the agency has released detailed instructions for exam day.According to the official schedule, JEE Main Paper 1 will be conducted in two shifts on multiple days. The morning shift will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, while the afternoon shift will run from 3 pm to 6 pm.Paper 2, for candidates applying to BArch and BPlanning programmes, will be conducted on the last day of the exam window in a single shift from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

JEE Main 2026: Important instructions for candidates

Candidates are advised to carefully check their admit card details, including Exam date, Shift and timing, Exam centre address, Reporting time, Gate closing time.The NTA has asked candidates to visit their exam centre in advance to avoid last-minute confusion.Candidates must reach the exam centre on time. Entry will not be allowed after the gate closing time mentioned on the admit card.

JEE Main 2026: Documents to carry

Candidates must carry the following items:

  • Printed admit card (preferably colour print)
  • Valid original photo ID proof
  • Two passport-size photographs (same as application form)

Candidates without proper identity verification will not be allowed to enter the exam centre.PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates must also carry valid certificates if claiming relaxation.

JEE Main 2026: Items not allowed

Candidates are not allowed to carry Mobile phones, Smart watches, Calculators, Bags or handbags, Notes or printed material, Any electronic device, Metallic items.The exam centres will be under CCTV surveillance and equipped with jammers.

JEE Main 2026: Additional instructions

  • Candidates should ensure Aadhaar biometric authentication is not locked
  • Rough sheets will be provided at the centre
  • Candidates must sign attendance sheets and provide thumb impression
  • Late entry will not be allowed under any circumstances

For Paper 2 drawing test, candidates must bring their own geometry box, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. Watercolours will not be allowed.With strict rules in place, candidates are advised to carefully follow all instructions to avoid any issues on exam day.Read the official notice here.
