At 41, the veteran Lakers star has been doing things that appear to signal his potential retirement, perhaps by the end of the season. Recently, James gifted his mom, Gloria, a Lakers jersey with a heartfelt note thanking her for everything she did for him to become the man he is today.It was not the first; his former team Cleveland Cavaliers have celebrated his legacy on the jumbotron at their home as the Lakers superstar returned to face the blowout defeat. LeBron James has avoided firm statements about retirement, even as speculation grows. After the loss in Cleveland, he addressed the idea of a farewell tour and made it clear that no final decision exists yet. He explained that those conversations have not happened with his family, and any evaluation would come after the season.“I’ll go out and play at a high level…I have not even thought to the point of like a farewell tour or whatever the case may be because I haven’t had that conversation with myself and my family on when it’s over,” James said.He also acknowledged how unexpected his longevity has been. “8 years ago when I left to go to LA if you would have asked would I still be playing in 2026 I would have said no.
