Social media influencer Amulya Rattan has finally spoken about the heavy backlash she received after her video from a public shoot went viral. The clip showed her stopping a man who walked behind her while she was filming on a busy street. Very quickly, the video spread online and people started debating about influencer behaviour, public places and basic civic sense.Following the backlash over the viral video, Amulya decided to share her side of the story on Instagram. She explained what really happened that day and also said sorry for her words. At the same time, she strongly spoke against the abuse and threats she received online.
What was the viral video about?
The original video was a short “fit check” reel. In the clip, Amulya is seen walking backwards while filming herself on a public road. A man casually walks behind her and comes into the frame for a few seconds. She suddenly stops and scolds him, questioning his “civic sense” for disturbing her video.Another clip from the same moment also went viral. In that video, Amulya is heard saying, “And no sorry, I made a mistake, nothing. They will just come in between. I get irritated by these small things.” This line made many people angry. Many felt she was acting entitled and forgetting that public roads belong to everyone.
Amulya Rattan explains her side
After the backlash grew, Amulya Rattan posted a long message on Instagram. She said, “Uss din main bas ek simple outfit check video record karri thi (That day, I was just recording a simple outfit check video) and I was well aware that I was in a public space and I changed my spot multiple times so that I don’t interrupt anyone and no one gets disturbed.”Rattan explained that she did not want to block anyone and kept shifting places. She also shared that a group of men stood behind her, stared at her and made her feel uncomfortable. Because of this, she kept changing locations before the incident happened.Amulya Rattan also clarified that the viral clip was not meant for a big audience. She said it was just a Snapchat story that was supposed to disappear in 24 hours. According to her, she deleted it soon after posting.
Apologizing and learning from the mistake
Amulya accepted that she could have handled the situation better. She openly admitted her mistake and said, “My choice of words, could have been better and I genuinely take that as a learning.”Rattan also apologised to people who felt hurt by her video. In her words, “I am really sorry, ki agar kisi se sentiments heart hue toh.” She said this experience taught her a lesson and she will be more careful in the future.
Calling out abuse and threats post the viral video backlash
Along with the explanation Amulya Rattan shared screenshots of abusive and threatening messages she received. She questioned why the reaction became so extreme. She asked, “Mujhe uss ek video ki wajah se threats aur verbal abuse sunne ko mill rhe hai. ( I am receiving threats and verbal abuse because of that one video) Do I deserve that?”While some people supported her and appreciated her apology others continued to criticise her. Some users mocked her response.
