IIT Madras MS Entrepreneurship programme 2026: Applications close on March 30; check who can apply, direct link here

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has opened applications for its Master of Science (MS) in Entrepreneurship programme for the July 2026 session and the registration process is currently underway. The programme is offered by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE) at IIT Madras. Interested candidates can apply through the official portal before March 30, 2026.

Programme focuses on building deep-tech startups

The MS in Entrepreneurship programme focuses on building deep-tech startups. Unlike conventional research degrees, this programme aims to help students translate research ideas into market-ready ventures. Candidates will work on real project areas guided by faculty members at IIT Madras.Currently, 43 scholars are part of the programme. More than five participants have already incorporated their startups. The programme offers 29 project areas for the July 2026 intake.

Project areas across multiple sectors

The available project areas span several sectors including:

  • Energy and climate
  • Healthcare and biomedical
  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Robotics and smart systems
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Sustainability
  • Education technology (EdTech)
  • Deep science
  • Mobility

Each selected candidate will work with a faculty founder from IIT Madras.

Incubation and funding support

Students will receive support for intellectual property development. The programme also includes pre-incubation support at Nirmaan and funding opportunities through the IIT Madras Incubation Cell. The initiative aims to help candidates move from lab research to startup creation.
