Govt will post an official at the Indian high commission in London to deal with matters relating to International Maritime organisation (IMO) and technical matters. This comes at a time when supply chain disruptions, particularly through sea, have become frequent in recent years. TOI has learnt the shipping ministry’s proposal has been approved by the department of expenditure and an official will be appointed soon for this purpose. India’s EXIM (export-import) trade is heavily dependent on maritime transport, with sea routes facilitating approximately 95% of trade by volume and around 70% by value.
