'Go back to India', 'Die Nazi': Melbourne dad finds racist notes while cleaning car; says there's no reason for such attacks

An Indian-origin man in Melbourne reported racist, hateful notes scattered across the front yard of his Epping home when he was cleaning his car. ‘Go back to India’, ‘Die Nazi’ — the notes read. The man who did not want to disclose hi name posted the photos of the racist notes on a local Facebook community page to warn others saying racism and hate had no place in the neighborhood. “I really don’t understand the point of it,” the man, who asked to remain anonymous out of concern for his safety, told news.com.au. “There’s no reason for something like this to happen.”The man said he moved to Australia a decade ao and has a newborn, a toddler and elderly family members living with him. The incident shook them as they did not understand whether those notes were targeted or if there was any reason behind the attack. “That night we didn’t go out for our usual walk,” he said. “I didn’t feel safe leaving my children at home.”The news report said that the social media post revealed many such similar incidents. One commenter, who identified themselves as a council worker, said they had found similar notes in a public garden bed near a nearby civic centre, reading “dirty people”, written on paper of the same size.“I wasn’t posting this for sympathy,” the man later wrote. “My only intention was to make our community aware that such incidents are happening, so we can all stay alert and look out for one another.”

Only Indian family in the immediate area

The man expressed concerns that those who left the notes were aware that they were Indians and there is only one Indian family in the immediate area. “It’s something that sticks in your head,” he said. “I was restless all night. The first thing I do now is check outside to make sure nothing else has happened,” he said. The incident was reported to the police but they said they could do little as there was no property damage. The man said he called another police station which said they would take it seriously.
