Nikkhil Advani opens up about ‘Freedom At Midnight 2’ ending

Talking to NDTV about the series, Advani revealed that it was his creative decision at the end of the day to keep Mahatma Gandhi’s shooter anonymous. Nathuram Godse was not directly mentioned in the series; the initials ‘NVG’ were used to hint at his involvement. He mentions that it is important to understand that the episode is based on the POV of DIG Delhi DW Mehra and Union Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He adds that the two individuals saw Nathuram Godse as a ghost, which is why he chose to keep his name away in the series.He added, “To them, he was nameless”, sharing that the only way the names would have been included was if he had chosen to share the story from the point of view of the criminals. He further added, “He was a nameless person on January 30, 1948, inside Birla House. So I only played him like that, like a shadow. If the scene was unfolding from any of the five people’s point of view, you would have heard his name.”
