Florida man caught stealing $900 in Disney collectible pins after removing security tags and hiding them in belongings

A Florida man was arrested after allegedly stealing more than $900 worth of Disney collectible pins. The incident took place at a Disney merchandise store, where the man reportedly took multiple pins without paying. Store staff noticed the theft and contacted local police. Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect, who was later located by deputies. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the stolen items included a variety of pins popular with collectors. The total value of the merchandise was estimated at over $900. Officers confirmed that the man had removed security tags and concealed the pins in his belongings before leaving the store. When questioned by police, the suspect admitted to taking the items. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with theft. Authorities did not release his name immediately. This type of theft is considered a serious offence, especially because collectible Disney pins are highly sought after and resell quickly in secondary markets. Law enforcement stressed the importance of reporting such thefts promptly, as they can quickly escalate if stolen merchandise is resold online or through other channels. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the stolen pins have been recovered and returned to the store. The man is currently being held in the county jail pending further legal proceedings.Store management said they are reviewing security procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future. “We take theft very seriously and are grateful for the quick action of law enforcement,” a spokesperson said. This case confirms there is a need for vigilance in stores that carry collectible and high-demand items, especially at tourist destinations like Disney.
