The air filter should also be replaced regularly. A clogged filter makes the engine work harder. –Overheating is another issue many people ignore. Some drivers continue using the car even when the temperature warning light comes on. That can be risky. Overheating can damage pistons and the cylinder head. Repairs in such cases are usually expensive. Sometimes the engine may even need a rebuild. -Another habit that harms the engine is revving it immediately after starting the car. This is especially common in the morning. The engine oil needs some time to circulate. Just a minute or two is enough. Revving a cold engine increases wear on parts. A gentle start is always better.
