This idea puts Optimus at the centre of AI, robotics, and space exploration, even though Musk admitted that a lot of that vision is still years away from practical reality.

Optimus framed as a tool for autonomous civilisation building

Such capabilities would make Optimus critical for building and sustaining settlements on the Moon, Mars, or other worlds. By operating independently in harsh and unpredictable environments, humanoid robots could prepare habitats, power systems, and manufacturing facilities before humans arrive.
