In a recent interview with Women’s Health, she spoke about how tabloid culture affected her mental health and body image during her early years in the public eye. Her words show how difficult it was to grow up while being constantly judged. At the same time, this comes when Grigor Dimitrov is going through a tough phase in his tennis career. The former World No. 3 recently suffered a first-round exit at the Monte-Carlo Masters. While his professional struggles continue, González’s honest story is drawing attention for a completely different reason, how public pressure can impact someone’s confidence and self-worth.

Grigor Dimitrov and Eiza González: Actress recalls painful tabloid culture and her journey toward self-acceptance

Eiza González spoke openly about how harsh media coverage once shaped how she saw herself. She recalled standing in checkout lines and seeing magazines that focused on women’s bodies in a negative way. Speaking to Women’s Health, she said, “It was horrifying. It was with the intent to make fun of them, to minimise them, to make them feel like they are not good enough. It was not compassionate or empathetic, it was very harsh.”Her struggles go back to her childhood. She lost her father, Carlos González, in a motorcycle accident when she was just 12 years old. That loss affected her deeply. Over time, it led to emotional eating and a long battle with body image issues. She has shared that understanding this trauma helped her slowly rebuild her relationship with her body.Today, her thinking has changed. González says she now feels happy seeing women accept themselves the way they are. She explained that she had cellulite from a young age and once felt scared to show it. Now, she feels more confident and no longer lets those fears control her.Earlier this year, she also posted a heartfelt message on Instagram. In that post, she spoke about choosing herself and taking care of her body. She wrote, “I have become deeply committed to giving my body love, fueling it with kindness, care, and respect. I am proud of how far I have come, even though the journey is not easy.”While González continues her personal growth, Grigor Dimitrov is facing a challenging time on the court. He lost in the first round of the Monte-Carlo Masters to Argentina’s Tomás Martín Etcheverry. With this result, his ranking is expected to drop significantly, marking one of the lowest points in his long career.
