Delhi government invites scholarship applications for SC, ST, OBC students for 2025-26, apply by April 30

The Government of Delhi has invited applications for scholarship schemes for students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories for the academic year 2025-26.According to the official notice, five state-funded schemes and several centrally sponsored schemes are available for eligible students studying in schools, colleges, and universities in Delhi.Students can submit their applications through the e-district portal, and the last date to apply is April 30, 2026.

Fee reimbursement for school students

Under one of the major schemes, the government will provide reimbursement of tuition fees and other compulsory charges for SC, ST, and OBC students studying in Classes 1 to 12 in recognised schools in Delhi.This benefit is available to students whose family income is up to Rs 3 lakh per year. Students must also meet academic performance and attendance requirements.

Merit scholarship for higher education

The government has also introduced a merit scholarship scheme for SC, ST, and OBC students pursuing professional, technical, and higher education courses.Under this scheme, students can receive financial assistance between Rs 8,000 and Rs 24,000 per year, depending on their course level and whether they are hostellers or day scholars.To qualify, students must secure at least 60 per cent marks in the previous academic year.Dr BR Ambedkar State Topper AwardUnder the Dr BR Ambedkar State Topper Award, toppers from SC, ST, and OBC categories in each discipline across universities will receive Rs 25,000.Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Pratibha YojanaThe Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Pratibha Yojana will provide:

  • Rs 5,000 per year for students in Classes 9 and 10
  • Rs 10,000 per year for students in Classes 11 and 12

Students must meet income and academic eligibility criteria to receive the benefits.

Financial support for studying abroad

The department is also offering financial assistance to SC students who wish to pursue higher studies abroad at the master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels.Selected students may receive:

  • Up to Rs 5 lakh per year
  • Maximum Rs 10 lakh for master’s programmes
  • Maximum Rs 20 lakh for doctoral studies

The benefits are subject to income limits, age criteria, and other eligibility conditions.

How to apply

Students can apply through the e-district portal before April 30, 2026. Candidates are advised to carefully check eligibility criteria and required documents before submitting their applications.The schemes aim to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds and help them continue their education from school level to higher studies.(with PTI inputs)
