Bengal Polls: Ram Navami Rallies Turn BJP's Show Of Strength, But Display Of Weapons Triggers Row

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the BJP would lose power at the national level if it continues its alleged attempts to harm West Bengal.Speaking at an election rally in Raniganj, Mamata Banerjee said her party aims to win the upcoming state assembly elections for a fourth straight term. She added that after securing victory, she would unite various political parties to “capture” Delhi.

“If the BJP comes to power in the state, they will use bulldozers and throw everyone out,” Banerjee claimed.She further said, “By attempting to destroy Bengal, the BJP will lose power across the country,” while addressing the gathering in Paschim Bardhaman district.Banerjee also accused the Election Commission of acting in favour of the BJP by removing names from voter lists during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.“There must be a Lakshman Rekha, but the BJP is crossing all limits,” she said.“SIR will be your death knell,” she warned the BJP.Referring to recent violence during Ram Navami processions in Murshidabad’s Raghunathganj, she alleged that authorities failed to act.“I am the elected chief minister, but they have taken away all powers,” she said, adding that action would be taken against those involved once her party returns to power.Meanwhile, tensions rose in parts of Murshidabad district on Friday after clashes broke out during Ram Navami processions. Incidents of stone-pelting, vandalism and arson were reported from several areas, prompting increased security deployment in Jangipur and Raghunathganj, police said.
