According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers have finalized the Independence Day 2026 weekend for the film’s release. The publication stated, “Awarapan 2 has shaped up well as a musical, intense love story with Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. The makers were considering several release dates and have finally decided on the Independence Day weekend.” The report also said the film is still on the floors and that the remaining shoot is expected to wrap by the end of April, followed by about 2 months of post-production.

‘Awarapan 2’ cast, songs, and director update

The sequel stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani; Nitin Kakkar directs it. The film began shooting in Bangkok, with Emraan returning as Shivam. Later reports said that pending shoot work, caused by an injury Emraan suffered, delayed production.The new film also carries added interest because of the original’s long afterlife. The report said ‘Awarapan’ has gained cult status over the years and noted that two songs from the first film’s album have been recreated for the sequel. Those tracks are among the film’s major highlights.
