It is generally accepted that the 9th house in the horoscope is the house of the Guru and also of Dharma. In the Kalapurusha Kundali, this belongs to Jupiter—the other Guru, as mentioned in Part 5. The question is: what is the job of the Guru? In astrology, we see the job of a person from the 6th house. Therefore, the 6th from the 9th house—that is, the 2nd house—represents the job of the Guru. The 2nd house of the Kalapurusha Kundali is owned by Venus.
Who does the Guru partner with to discharge his duties? It is the 7th from the 9th house—that is, the 3rd house. Further, what is the Karma of the Guru? It is the 10th from the 9th house—that is, the 6th house of the Kalapurusha Kundali. The 3rd and the 6th houses are owned by Mercury.
Jupiter has to work with Venus and Mercury (both his enemies) to ensure spiritualism (Adhyatma) in any person. The gain of the Guru is the enlightenment of the Disciple (Sishya), which is the 7th house of the person or the Kalapurusha. The 7th house is again owned by Venus. Mercury represents one’s intellect (Gnyana), and Venus represents one’s senses. Senses aided by intellect lead to wisdom (represented by Jupiter).
The Guru’s happiness is the result of his wisdom. The happiness of the Guru is the 4th from the 9th house—that is, the 12th house of the person or the Kalapurusha. The owner of the 12th house is Jupiter, who represents wisdom. The 12th house represents Moksha, Mukti, or Enlightenment.
What we see is that it is the 2nd house, the 3rd house, the 6th house, the 7th house, and the 12th house of the person’s horoscope that combine to give rise to enlightenment. What is the gain of the person? It is the 11th house. So, if we carefully observe, the so-called bad houses give rise to Enlightenment, as mentioned in Part 5. The 8th house is also considered a bad house, and we said in Part 5 that, from the spiritual point of view, this house is also good. How? It is slightly difficult to understand this; however, we will try.
The Guru’s happiness is his Sishya’s enlightenment—that is the 12th house. On the material plane, something similar exists: the 4th house is the happiness of the person. It is important to understand that the Guru is already enlightened, and therefore matters of enlightenment give him happiness. But the Sishya is not enlightened. So matters of material concern give him happiness. The Sishya has not yet unearthed his Soul. He understands what his mind wants, represented by the Moon, and derives happiness from the material plane (the fourth house is owned by the Moon).
The Soul is represented by the Sun. The Soul of the Kalapurusha is the Sun, represented by Leo, the sign owned by the Sun. The fourth house from Leo is the 8th house of the Kalapurusha. The Soul’s food or happiness is Spirituality. The Mind’s food or happiness is the senses. The 4th from Cancer, owned by the Moon, is Libra, owned by Venus, representing the senses. The 4th from Leo, owned by the Sun, is Scorpio, owned by Mars, representing action.
This action brings happiness to the Soul. The action that brings happiness to the soul is spiritual practice, and the action that brings happiness to the mind is engagement with the material aspects of life. As stated in Part 5, possessions or the desire to possess are material, while doing (whatever it may be) is spiritual. Therefore, the 8th house, being the happiness of the Soul or Karma for the Soul, becomes a spiritual house and beneficial from a spiritual perspective.
A horoscope to examine Spirituality:
Time of Birth: 2:57 AM
Date of Birth: 28th April 1968
Place of Birth: Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India
Mars is at 29.1° in Aries and Rahu is at 24.21° in Pisces. Seven planets lie within 35 degrees and 22 minutes.
Sun and Moon are together in Aries, where Sun is exalted. Moon is very strong as it will soon enter Taurus. Moon is deeply combust, meaning the mind is mostly absent. Moon and Mercury are very close, but Mercury wins the planetary war, resulting in extremely strong intellect, as Mercury is also the 5th lord.
Both Atmakarakas, Sun and Venus, are exalted.
Sun and Moon are together, and Saturn is with Rahu. Soul monitors the mind and Karma oversees desire.
Mars is in its own house, in Moola Trikona, and in the 3rd house.
Moon, Sun, Venus, Saturn, and Rahu form a cluster, all impacting the Diptansh (capacity to influence) of each other.
Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu are on one side of the horoscope, while Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter are on the other side.
Jupiter and Ketu are in a 2-12 relationship, with Jupiter aspecting the Sun, the Moon, and the depositor of Ketu, ie, Mercury.
So far, these combinations suggest a very high quality of spiritual living.
Unless the Lagna is strong, the person cannot assimilate the energy that the planets and their combinations provide. Venus, Saturn, and Rahu give Argala to the Lagna, wherein Saturn is also the Lagna lord. Ketu gives Argala from the 8th house to the Lagna. Sun and Mars give Viparita Argala to the Lagna. Since Moon and Mercury are with malefics (Sun and Mars) from both sides, they become malefic. This Viparita Argala becomes extremely strong.
The Lagna is influenced by the Lagna lords (Saturn and Rahu), the exalted Atmakaraka, the exalted natural Atmakaraka, the 5th and 8th lord (Mercury), and the 10th and 3rd lord (Mars). Jupiter aspects the Lagna. All the 9 planets are connected to the Lagna. In Navamsa, Lagna and 12th lords are exalted, with the Lagna lords of the D1 being in their own house. In D24, Mars is debilitated in Lagna, suggesting that past accrued actions (Prarabdha and Sanchita) is feeble and karma in this life is also feeble. Ketu is in the 8th sign with sign lords shows high spiritual integration.
In D60, Ketu is in the 12th house. Saturn is debilitated (meaning feeble karma in engaging with senses), Mercury is debilitated (feeble intellect), and Jupiter in its own house (extremely comfortable wisdom) in the 3rd house, and this wisdom is his strength. The 3rd house is MKS for Jupiter. His wisdom is his problem in this Kali Yuga.
This horoscope has been chosen because it suggests both Rahu and Ketu types of enlightenment. Supporting indications include the Atmakaraka being in the 8th lord’s naxatra, the 10th lord with the 8th lord, the 8th lord is 8th from the 8th house, Saturn—the Lagna lord aspecting Ketu in 8th house. The final icing on the cake is Rahu and Ketu being in Dwiswava Rashis, aspecting each other with a lordship exchange.
Subsequently, we will relate astrology and spirituality with current understanding of science and know that it is more concerned with Enlightenment and not material peruits.
‘JYOTI’ is something present in nothing. Jyotisha is understanding both: Something-present and Nothingness.
