The Indian electric two-wheeler space continues to grow at a rapid pace. Ather Energy has already built a strong presence in the electric scooter market, while Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India entered the segment with the electric version of its popular Activa last year. The model is called Activa e: and it takes on rivals such as the Ather Rizta, which is positioned as a family-oriented electric scooter. Here’s a closer look at how the two compare in terms of range, features and pricing.

Ather Rizta vs Honda Activa e: Battery and range

When it comes to battery, range and performance, the Honda Activa e: uses a 6 kW electric motor and is capable of reaching a top speed of 80 kmph. Honda claims a riding range of 102 km on a full charge. The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 7.3 seconds and offers three riding modes: Econ, Standard and Sport.It gets two removable lithium-ion batteries, each rated at 1.5 kWh, taking the total battery capacity to 3 kWh. This setup is aimed at reducing charging downtime, as users can swap depleted batteries instead of waiting for them to recharge. On the flipside, there’s no charging option for these batteries.

The Ather Rizta, meanwhile, is offered in three variants: Rizta S, Rizta Z with a 2.9 kWh battery, and Rizta Z with a larger 3.7 kWh battery. The Rizta S and Z 2.9 kWh variants deliver a claimed range of 123 km on a single charge, while the top-end 3.7 kWh version extends the range to 159 km. Powering the Rizta is a 4.3 kW electric motor. Its top speed is capped at 80 kmph, and it can sprint from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.7 seconds.

In terms of features, the Honda Activa e: comes equipped with a 7-inch TFT display that supports smartphone connectivity via the Honda RoadSync Duo app. This allows access to navigation and other connected functions. The scooter also gets Honda’s H-Smart key system, a USB charging port, a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. Honda is offering the Activa e: in five colour options.The Ather Rizta, on the other hand, offers Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity along with a companion mobile app that provides features such as call and SMS alerts, roadside assistance and an anti-theft alarm. The scooter also comes with reverse assist and a 7-inch LCD display. One of its major advantages over the Activa e: is practicality, as the Rizta gets a large 34-litre under-seat storage compartment. The Activa e: misses out on under-seat storage because of its battery placement.

Ather Rizta vs Honda Activa e: Pricing

The Honda Activa e: is available in two variants. The Standard version is priced at Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom, while the RoadSync Duo variant costs Rs 1.52 lakh. The Ather Rizta starts at Rs 1.05 lakh for the S variant and starts at Rs 1.30 lakh, ex-showroom, for the Z trim.
