'STR 51': Director Ashwath Marimuthu 'pumped up' for shoot with Silambarasan - See PICS
Director Ashwath Marimuthu shared his excitement for the upcoming ‘STR 51’ film with Silambarasan TR, signaling that shooting is imminent. The romantic fantasy, hinted to start with ‘I’ and set for a 2026 Tamil release, is moving forward after a deliberate screenplay refinement. This project is a significant milestone for both the director and Silambarasan.

Director Ashwath Marimuthu has once again put the spotlight on his much-awaited film with Silambarasan TR, and this time, his visible excitement has caught fans’ attention. While the actor’s 50th film with Desingh Periyasamy remains without fresh updates, the STR 51 project is steadily moving forward. The romantic fantasy, earlier teased with the “God of Love” concept, has already created strong expectations among fans. Ashwath’s latest social media post, filled with energy and positivity, signals that the long wait is finally ending and that the team is preparing to begin shooting soon.

Director’s viral post raises anticipation for ‘STR 51’

Sharing cheerful photos with Silambarasan and producer Archana Kalpathi, the filmmaker wrote that he is “pumped up for the shoot” and hinted that STR’s arrival is imminent. The candid pictures, mainly displaying the three with beaming smiles, portray a totally relaxed and self-assured environment among the actors. The film is coming out in Tamil in 2026 and has been creating a lot of excitement. Though the title is yet to be revealed, Ashwath has already teased that it will begin with the letter “I,” adding to the curiosity surrounding the film.

Director clears delay rumours

‘STR 51’ faced delays after its early announcement, which led to online speculation. However, Ashwath openly clarified that the pause was due to his own decision to take time to craft a solid screenplay after the blockbuster success of ‘Dragon.’ His honest admission not only silenced rumours but also increased trust in the project. The latest update now confirms that the film is very much on track, with the team moving into the next phase of production.

A busy phase for Silambarasan

At a time when Silambarasan is also working on ‘Arasan’ with Vetrimaaran, Ashwath’s film is shaping up as a crucial milestone in both their careers. With casting from Mrunal Thakur and music from Anirudh Ravichander not yet revealed to the audience, the buzz created is enough to endorse filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu’s ‘God of Love’.
