Asha Bhosle, the legendary singer of Indian cinema, passed away on April 12, 2026, in Mumbai. She was 92. Soon, tributes poured for the music icon from all the quarters. Amidst this, Sunam Salve, who was the house help of late singer Asha Bhosle for over 40 years, remembered the late playback singer as a grounded being and the one who respected a “poor woman like her.“

In an interview with IANS, Sunam Salve said, “I used to work at her (Asha Bhosle’s) house, and her behavior was very good. She gave a lot of respect to a poor woman like me who lives in a slum.”Talking about the singer’s unfortunate demise, she noted, “When we came to know that she (Asha Bhosle) was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, we were very worried. Today’s news has deeply saddened us.”She also opened up about Asha Bhosle’s nature to remain grounded despite having achieved heights of success as a singer. Sunam Salve said, “She had even visited my village. She never refused me leave whenever I needed it.”Mourning the singer’s demise, Salve mentioned that she received the news only on Sunday morning. “I had been at my home for the past eight days. I came to know about her passing this morning, and I felt very sad,” she said.

Lata Mangeshkar‘s househelp mourns the demise of Asha Bhosle

Meanwhile, Pushpa Navar, who worked and stayed at the residence of late singer Lata Mangeshkar, expressed, “I used to work with Lata Didi and lived at her house. After her passing, I stopped working. Asha Didi was very kind.”Mourning Asha Bhosle’s death, she said, “I am deeply saddened by her demise. I have no words to express this grief. All the sisters were very good. They treated me like family and gave me a lot of love.”

Doctor Pratit Samdani, under whom the legendary artist was being treated, shared that she passed away due to multiple organ failure. He said while talking to the media outside the hospital.The last rites of Asha Bhosle will take place at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on April 13, 2026, at 4 pm. Before that, people can pay their respects to the late music icon at her residence in Lower Parel’s Casa Grande building from 11 am onwards. She will be laid to rest with full state honors.
